Good, but....

First use blew my mind! I had to bore a 1" hole through a cedar post with a 9" diameter using a 12" spiral drill bit and it went through it like butter. I was hooked. Second use not so good. I was hammer-drilling using a 7" L x 1/2" W concrete drill bit into flagstone and natural granite and the gun overheated to the point that oil was spitting out of the chuck assembly before finishing the first hole. The large M18 battery was only able to drill a maximum 2.5 holes (I had to drill 12 holes) before it would need to be fully charged again. the holes were only 5"- 6"s deep. I had to call a buddy of mine to supply me with way more batteries but the drill took a beating and burned me multiple times while drilling. The job took hours longer then I had planned. I was disappointed, especially since my first use was so wonderful. Third use was drilling through cedar posts that had an average diameter of 8" using a spiral 1/2 drill bit. Again it went through the post like butter. Redeemed. Now I know that this drill is only good for wood, not concrete or stone.
Upgrading to Milwaukee Red

I have been a long-time user of another "yellow" brand of power and hand tools. A friend recently let me borrow several of his Milwaukee power tools because my yellow brand batteries crapped out after 3 years and are not not available through the yellow guys. I quickly realized that overall, the Milwaukee tools were significantly better. They are more durable, much better designed and built (sorry, I am an engineer by trade) and they hold a charge much longer. Another big selling point was that Milwaukee does not change their batter configuration making your ~3yr out batteries obsolete and must buy aftermarket replacements. No thanks yellow guys. Battery interchangeability is great on Milwaukee tools as well. I purchased the M18 2-tool kit and have been extremely satisfied in the brief period I have had them. I will be replacing all my yellow gear as they crap out, which they have been doing.
Stronger than my ten year old kit

This is an excellent kit, and especially makes sense with a Packout, and has a nice carry case for those of us not using the package. My work is more handy man at this point, where I need 12 volt for some work, and 18 v for harder stuff. But now, I have to use two hands to carry this case plus my bit assortments and spare batteries in the old fabric case to a jobsite. I do like how they give a combo charger for both 12 and 18 Volts.

The tools are a little heavier, but also much stronger. In fact, it is really nice there are torque / BPM speed settings on the impact like my 18v impact wrench. I had a problem when driving screws in soft pine, where I had to be careful not to drive the screw all the way through the board. If you do not drill the correct pilot hole in a hard wood like Epay, it would easily rip the screw in half. With something this strong, you should learn carefully so you do not destroy oak cabinets

I feel the knurling on the drill chuck is way too fine, it almost burned my hand when I tried hand holding to chuck a drill bit. The chuck locked faster and harder than I was ready, so that is just learning new equipment. If it was more coarse it might be easier to feel the tension lock hit, and no matter what, use low speed to hand chuck a bit.

There are extra molded spots in the case, but I have no idea why they are there. I would be nice to see a design drawing with labels......
Great tools, really terrible case.

Excellent combo kit, the zip screw auto-stop feature is nice except when trying to screw together two sheet metal surfaces with heavier gauge such as a plenum and air handler. It will need a second pull of the trigger. Of course you can set it to any of the other settings and it's really a non-issue.
Pet peeve #1 is the carrying case; it does not have a proper cavity to carry bits and such. It only has a tiny area under the battery charger and it's not even close to being adequate. Even a few loose bits and it's impossible for the charger and power cord to sit in place. That's a major downfall for most users.
Pet peeve #2 is a thing which was obvious is the impact driver's snub-nose has a very wide diameter which makes getting it into tight corners near impossible. The workaround is to use a longer bit which negates its short length.
I came from using and loving Makita for well over a decade but since Milwaukee has been making equipment for hvac, I have turned towards them.
The drills themselves have been excellent but being in hvac, I do not use them as heavily nor as abusively as some other trades. For example, I do not need to drive 6" lag screws and deck screws etc. I read some of the 1-star reviews but those have not been my experience so far.
